Independence and Conflicts of Interest

How Citeveriq keeps evaluations independent of payments and personal connections.

Version 1.0, effective 10 October 2026

Separation of roles

People who handle sales, coupons and payments cannot edit evaluation scores or decisions. Every change to a score, status or certificate is recorded in an audit log that cannot be edited from the application.

Conflicts of interest

Reviewers must declare any connection with a journal or its publisher, including editorial roles, employment, recent co-authorship, family ties or financial interest. A reviewer with a conflict does not take part in that evaluation.

Gifts and pressure

Citeveriq staff do not accept gifts, payments or favours from publishers. Any attempt to influence a result is recorded and may lead to the application being rejected and the listing suspended.

Our own interests

Citeveriq earns money from evaluation fees. To limit the effect of that interest, the methodology, score bands and certificate threshold are published, results can be appealed, and refunds do not depend on the outcome.
